First Things First

Priorities

Priorities reveal what matters most.

Not what we say matters most.

What actually matters most.

We make time for what we prioritize.

We spend money on what we prioritize.

We think about what we prioritize.

We protect what we prioritize.

We pursue what we prioritize.

Scripture says:

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you."

— Matthew 6:33 NASB

Notice that Jesus did not say seek Him second.

He did not say seek Him after work.

He did not say seek Him after entertainment.

He did not say seek Him after relationships.

He said seek Him first.

Yet many of us have good intentions while living with misplaced priorities.

We give God the leftovers of our day.

The remaining minutes.

The remaining energy.

The remaining attention.

Meanwhile, our schedules reveal what has truly received first place.

The truth is simple.

Whatever sits at the top of our priority list will shape our lives.

If Christ is first, everything else finds its proper place.

If Christ is not first, everything else eventually becomes disordered.

When God is first, decisions become clearer.

Purpose becomes clearer.

Direction becomes clearer.

Peace becomes greater.

Not because life becomes easier, but because life is aligned.

The question is not whether God is important to us.

The question is whether He is first.

Before evaluating your schedule, your goals, your relationships, or your responsibilities, ask yourself:

Who sits in first place?

Because whatever is first will determine the direction of everything that follows.
