The Colors of Life

Is your life full of wildflowers?

A wildflower is a plant that occurs without human introduction, cultivation, or intentional planting.

Yet it appears.

It grows.

It spreads.

And before long, it occupies ground that was meant for the Sower's seed.

The same happens in our lives.

Wildflowers are the distractions that grow where God's seeds were meant to be planted, watered, and cultivated.

Entertainment.

Social media.

Busyness.

Comfort.

Money.

Status.

Recognition.

Relationships.

Careers.

Ambition.

Platforms.

Opinions.

Possessions.

All these things can occupy space, time, attention, affection, or priority that belongs to God.

They appear harmless, even beautiful.

Yet they are weeds the enemy has sown to distract you from your purpose.

Jesus spoke of this very thing:

"The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and left."

— Matthew 13:24–25 NASB

We must stop sleeping and begin sowing.

The seed of prayer.

The seed of worship.

The seed of God's Word.

The seed of obedience.

The seed of discipleship.

We must sow these seeds daily to prevent the wildflowers from taking over and creating a landscape of their own.

God needs fertile soil.

Soil that can be tilled.

Soil that can be cultivated.

Scripture says:

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."

— Ephesians 2:10 NASB

God is creating something beautiful in each of us.

A life that reflects Him.

A life that bears fruit.

Therefore, things must be removed so something better can flourish.

Weeds must be pulled.

Daily distractions must be surrendered.

Before admiring the wildflowers in your life, examine what they may be concealing from view.

Now ask yourself:

Are the colors of your life part of God's design?
